First Ever Members Meeting of WHCT

On Thursday 24th April, from 2–5pm, we’re inviting all residents, neighbours, families, and friends to join us at Calders Green Shoots Community Garden for a special gathering — the first ever Wester Hailes Community Trust Members Meeting.

This event is more than a meeting. It’s a moment for us to come together and talk about what matters most to our community — our streets, our spaces, our wellbeing, and our shared future.

Why it matters

Wester Hailes is a place full of life, potential, and resilience. But like many communities, we face real challenges:

  • How can we better protect our homes and streets from floods and storms?

  • How do we grow more food locally, right here in our estates and gardens?

  • How can we improve the places we live, walk, and gather — making them greener, safer, and more welcoming?

  • How do we support the most vulnerable among us and ensure no one is left behind?

  • How do we care for nature, biodiversity, and the environment around us?

These are just some of the questions that the Wester Hailes Local Place Plan aims to explore. But we can’t build that vision without you.

What to expect

This members meeting will be an open, friendly space for discussion, sharing ideas, and imagining a climate-ready, people-first future for Wester Hailes. Whether you're new to the area or a long-time resident, your voice is not only welcome — it's needed.

There’ll be:

  • Informal conversations about the Place Plan and community priorities

  • Opportunities to connect with neighbours, local groups, and organisers

  • Space for children to join and participate — families are especially encouraged to attend
